ABOUT US

From the past to Nisa. From Nisa to the world.

Casa Landeiro Wines was born from a dream that arose from a quest. Founded in 2024 in Nisa by Luiz and Graziela Landeiro, the winery is the result of the couple's desire—a desire born from Luiz Landeiro's search for his roots—to make excellent wine in Portugal, always in tune with the land and respecting local customs, culture, and economy.

Casa Landeiro Wines is a wine producer in Alto Alentejo, Portugal, founded in 2024 by Luiz and Graziela Landeiro in Nisa, Tapada do Fental.

Born in Brazil, in the state of Espírito Santo, Luiz Landeiro's ancestors came from northern Portugal and Galicia on his paternal great-grandfather's side. In an attempt to find his ancestors and perhaps even contemporary relatives in that region, Luiz found an old bottle of wine with a label that read “Quinta do Landeiro.” Although he was unable to discover whether the surname belonged to any family member, this discovery planted a seed: the desire to produce wine under the family name. The realization of this desire is thus also a way for Luiz Landeiro to honor his family and, at the same time, to reconnect with his ancestors who, 150 years ago, left the Iberian Peninsula and headed to Brazil in search of a better life.

Luiz Landeiro's search for the ideal place to fulfill his dream of making wine ended up at Tapada do Fental, a property on the doorstep of Nisa. The Tapada was named after the birthplace of Luiz's great-grandfather, José: O Fental, a small Galician village located somewhere between Lugo and Ourense. It was in Tapada do Fental - a 30-hectare plot of land, 14 of which are dedicated to vineyards - that Casa Landeiro set up in 2024. And in October of that same year, the first harvest took place, the “Zero Harvest”, which resulted in the first wine under the Casa brand: Para Nisa Tinto 2024. Tapada do Fental is now facing times of change. Interventions to improve the vineyard are planned - and, in some cases, already underway. Some of these interventions involve replacing entire plots of land, forcing a reconfiguration of the property's cultivated area. Casa Landeiro's philosophy, clearly expressed in the signature Tempo da Terra, is based on deep respect for the cycles of nature, the sustainability of the vineyard and all the processes involved in wine production, from viticulture to oenology. As for the wines, Casa Landeiro's ambition remains as firm as it was at the beginning: to make a wine “to drink with those you love”, in the words of Luiz Landeiro.
